Happy Halloween! All Hallows Eve! Samhain!…however you celebrate it. In all transparency, I admit that I recently learned the proper pronunciation of Samhain and my mind was blown. But life is a learning journey, right? And I am still a bit of a noob to my own mystical discovery. HOWEVER, let it be noted that yesterday I correctly answered a trivia question about what exactly a grimoire was, so there was that. Oh, and there was that card pull I did last week, when I was worried about my father who was hospitalized, and I pulled Male Signifier, Coffin, and Moon…clearly my anxious energy waves were in full force that morning.
Tomorrow is November 1st….and you know what that means! As I mentioned in my previous post, I am using NaNoWriMo as a month long push to get the first draft of my fantasy novel completed. Yesterday I had a bit of a breakthrough thought – I need to get away from the “normal” fantastical creatures already invented and create my own. I think that’s what a lot of my struggle is – I feel constricted in terms of assigning creature powers and societal norms.
I am loving the pencil and composition notebook writing, guys! If you’re having trouble coming up with ideas, staring at the curser blinking on your blank page, I encourage you to take it to the paper instead. There is a magical idea maker that gets stimulated by the #2 Ticonderoga pencil, nice and sharp, scratching away at the space above the blue lines! I swear it. I love it so much, it just makes the nerd in me all warm and cozy. Filling up a composition notebook with my scribbles is just a magical process for me, has been since I was a young kid. And before you ask, yes I totally had a Harriet the Spy phase.
